Yes, redaction is permanent and forensically sound. The tool finds keywords or regions you specify and replaces them with solid black bars, then flattens the PDF so the hidden content cannot be extracted or recovered. This is suitable for legal, compliance, and court submission use cases.

The Encrypt PDF tool applies AES-256 encryption with a password you set. It supports both user password (required to open the file) and owner password (controls printing, copying, and editing permissions). The encryption is fully compatible with Adobe Acrobat and all standard PDF readers.

The Free plan allows up to 100 files per day with full access to all browser tools. The Basic license raises the limit to 1,000 files/day. The Pro license removes all daily limits (unlimited files/day) and unlocks priority processing. All plans use the same tools with no feature restrictions — only processing volume differs.

Each DocInspector license allows 2 activations: one for the website (any browser) and one for the Desktop App (Windows PC). If you want to switch to a different computer, deactivate the old device first from the license panel, then activate on the new machine.

All document processing is done 100% locally on your machine. An internet connection is only required to verify your license. However, if your internet connection drops, the app features a 24-hour offline bypass, allowing you to continue your work without interruption for a full day. Your files and data never leave your local network.

You have full control over your subscription through our Customer Portal, accessible by clicking "Manage Subscription" on the Pricing or Online Tools pages. In the portal, you can view your active subscriptions, current license keys, and billing history. To add licenses (e.g., for new team members), simply increase the subscription quantity. To move a license, click on your License Key and deactivate an old device to free up a slot. Invoices are generated automatically and emailed to you on your billing date (which starts on the date of your first purchase), and can also be downloaded anytime from the portal. If you upgrade your quantity mid-cycle, you will only be charged a prorated amount for the remaining days of that month or year.
